By
isolating the learning objectives
in a real-life situation, we find
students learn skills they can apply
to the real world.
The
simulated road-driving environment
is meant to teach driver awareness.
Empty parking lots exist for real-life
practice.
Regularly
scanning your side-view and rear-view
mirrors is essential for safe driving.
The Virtual Driving Simulator teaches
this by putting the student in the
driver’s seat (the point of
view of the camera) as they drive
along a predetermined path.
At
random intervals, the simulation stops
and asks the student a question about
their current situation. At other
times, the simulation will ask the
student to press enter on their remote
the instant they notice a dangerous
driving situation (e.g. a small dog
is running across the road).
